Campers learn to use their bodies and voices as instruments of expression as well as tools for theatrical character development. This one week intensive also focuses on choreography, vocal performance skills, acting, professional audition techniques and proper vocal techniques. Campers will have professional headshots taken, and learn audition techniques to acquire the skills needed to land their dream role! Camp will conclude with a Big Show performed entirely by the cast of campers!
Camp Instructors are all prominent professional actors, musicians and choreographers here in the Atlanta Theatre and Film Community.
Monday, June 1--First day of camp. Camp will begin right away at 9am! We will also have professional headshots taken this day. Please have your camper wear a solid top for the photo. No makeup or costuming is required.
Friday, June 12--Final show begins at 1:00 p.m.
About the Camp Director:
Camp director Gretchen Swanson graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in music education in 2008. She is currently the choral and musical theater director at General Ray Davis Middle School in Rockdale County where her choirs received the GMEA Exemplary Performance Award for the 2012-2013 school year. Gretchen has extensive experience as a musical theater director for students including recent full-length productions of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella," Disney's "Beauty and the Beast," and "Seussical." This is Gretchen's fourth year with the Office of the Arts' Musical Theatre Camp.
*Pre/After Care Available Monday-Friday, 7:30-9:00am and 4:00-5:30pm for additional fee of $50.00.
